When processing (washing) silk in hot water, most of it is washed away, but what remains is enough to prevent the appearance of dust mites. For this reason, natural silk is completely hypoallergenic.
7️. It takes an average of 2,800 to 3,300 cocoons to weave one meter of silk, a tie would require 110, a blouse 650, and a silk blanket would require up to 12,000 silkworm cocoons.
8️. One of the most valuable properties of silk is thermoregulation. In the heat, natural silk “cools”, and in winter it perfectly warms. In addition, silk products absorb moisture well.
9️. The silk thread is 8 times thinner than a human hair, very strong, after all, its purpose is to protect the caterpillar from hungry insects, and it is waterproof. Due to these properties, the fabric is soft, gentle to the touch, but at the same time strong and resistant to wear.
10. Almost 5,000 years ago in ancient China, the Yellow Emperor’s wife was drinking tea in the garden, and suddenly something fell from a mulberry branch into her cup. That elongated object was actually a silkworm cocoon. Thus the secret of silk production was revealed!
