Washing, drying and ironing your fabrics correctly can extend their life enormously. If you look after your fabrics properly, not only will they last longer, but they won’t lose their original, attractive appearance. It is no secret that some complaints about the quality of a fabric and the way it is sewn are due to its use outside the rules.
Natural silk is delicately soft and light, and some types are particularly lustrous or cosily matt. Silk yarns are extremely strong, can withstand strong pressure and are highly resistant to tearing. All this will be preserved if you care for the silk according to the instructions enclosed with the product or follow our advice:
Hand wash/machine wash – no more than 30°C onsilkordelicatessetting.
The last rinse is recommended with vinegar, which restores the shine to the silk.
Bleaching is prohibited. Use only natural fabric softeners for silk.
Do not dry in an electric tumble dryer.
Gently wring washed clothes with a gentle hand and do not shake wet fabric.
Comparison can only be made from the reverse side at low temperature. Steam may be used.
Occasionally it is advisable to air the fabric in a cool room (e.g. -20°C). This cold kills the eggs of moths, which are extremely fond of natural materials.
Regular airing of clothes leaves no odour and washing can be postponed for up to 2 weeks!
Remember that silk fibres are weakened by sweat, deodorants and direct sunlight. Cosmetics containing alcohol (perfume, hair and nail polish, etc.) are harmful to the silk fabric.
